Volunteers cleaned the area around the Seven Rila Lakes.

In the last week of August, nearly 80 volunteers cleaned the area of the Seven Rila Lakes - one of the most magical places in Rila Mountain, much of which is part of Rila National Park. They collected about 2.5 tons various waste along the walking trails and in the surrounding area. The environmental association " For the Earth" organizes such events for 13 consecutive years in the Bulgarian mountains. So far volunteers have gathered about 50 tonnes of waste. Removal of waste from inaccessible places in the Bulgarian mountains is not well regulated. Volunteers managed to gather around the lakes circus 250 bags of waste, which equals approximately to 2.5 tons - mostly glass, metal, plastics and other wastes as unconventional footwear, clothing and even electric appliances hrown in the shrubs and the bushes.
