The UK government announced the location of the four “eco-towns” which will be projected to answer the increasing housing needs and the ecological standards. The selection of their location has taken 2 years and initially 15 spots were researched. Every one out of the four eco-towns has 20000 new homes. These will be the first towns built in the UK for the last 40 years. The construction will follow the high ecological standards and sustainability with low or no carbon technologies, the latest water supply and waste processing systems. There will be public transportation in the towns and 30-50% of the terrain will be used for residential constructions as a result of the government efforts to cope with the housing crisis.
