The European Commission blocked over 1.5 milliard euros for the water sector for construction of sewage networks and water purifying plants and renovation of the existing network. The funds are suspended until the issue with the ownership of the water and sewage networks is solved. The bill for water supply and sewage cannot be approved as a result of the competition between the Ministry of environment and water and the Ministry of regional development and public works. Another reason stated by the European Commission is the lack of guarantees that the funds will be used effectively.
