It is expected Sofia municipal council to establish right of construction of 5 star hotel “Ropotamo” on municipal property with an area of 2851 sq. m. The building Ropotamo Plaza with 103 meters height and 30 floors will arise to replace the popular in the past restaurant Ropotamo – at the crossing of "Tsarigradsko shose” and “Mihai Eminesku” bulevards in Sofia. The existing building will be destroyed, but later turned into an integral part of the new building. Investor is the owner of the restaurant and the premises on the newly formed property – “International Capital Group”. The project “Ropotamo Plaza "starts in 2005 after an initiative of “International Capital Group”, which deals with Sofia Municipality for the establishment of right of construction of 6 storey building with area of 21 683 sq. m. for the price of 1 996 109 BGN. Days after the deal, the chief architect of Sofia, Stoyan Yanev, issued the necessary authorization for the construction, which is subsequently withdrawn at the end of the year by the capital Directorate for National Construction Supervision for being illegal. The decision points out that the building is too large for this area. 4 years later, the right of construction of the building is calculated to 9. 1 million euro.
